Australia shares rise 0.8 pct; miners lead

SYDNEY, Nov 17 (Reuters) - Australian stocks gained 0.8
percent on Tuesday, as miners such as BHP Billiton Ltd <BHP.AX>
firmed on stronger metal prices.
The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 <.AXJO> index added 41.9 points
to 4,797.1 by 2310 GMT, adding to Monday's 1 percent rise.
New Zealand shares were steady at 3,177.3 points.
